Route N-VI

The N-VI route is a magnificent opportunity to travel to A Coruña along a historic road that starts at km. 0 in Madrid and reaches the Galician city after a 600-kilometre journey.

A route where you can stop and discover original museums such as the chocolate museum in Astorga or the MUVICLA in Láncara; castles full of history such as La Mota in Medina del Campo or the Templar in Ponferrada; spectacular wineries and extraordinary landscapes such as the Lagunas de Villafáfila, Los Ancares and Las Médulas. Furthermore, this route will allow you to sample the typical gastronomy of more than 70 municipalities along the route, which you can do by car, motorbike, bicycle or campervan, and all at your own pace.

The N-VI was born as one of the Roman roads that linked the Iberian Peninsula with Brigantium, becoming a Royal Road in the 18th century under the reign of Charles III. In 1939, the Plan Peña gave names to the six radial roads we know today, and the one that connected Madrid with A Coruña was called N-VI.

It has been more than 20 years since the A6 motorway was completed, so the old N-VI road was left in the background. The N-VI Route revitalises all the municipalities that today form part of the Spain that has been emptied of visitors. If you want to experience an exciting adventure with added value, don't hesitate to embark on a simply spectacular journey with a millenary destination.

*Get the official passport. You will have to stamp it all along the N-VI. There are a large number of stamping points, the last of which is at the Torre de Hércules, in the tourist information office. With a minimum of 10 stamps you will receive a diploma. In addition, when you get your passport and activate it at rutanvi.com/pasaporte you will also get a complete guide of the whole route and a digital map with all the relevant points of the route.
