December is always a month packed with activities for all ages, so we would like to give you a brief summary of the 10 things you cannot miss in A Coruña this Christmas.
Christmas lights
One of the great attractions of Christmas in A Coruña! There are several points of interest in the city that have special lighting during this time of year: Real street, the Christmas ball in the Marina and the avenue itself, the tree located in O Parrote, María Pita and Azcárraga squares, and the Cuatro Caminos fountain.
Wherever you go in the area, the excitement of Christmas will accompany you on every walk.
Municipal nativity scene
On 12th December, the municipal nativity scene in A Coruña opens to the public, a very special event for all the city's residents, as each year a figure of interest to the public is added. On this occasion, the special "guest" is local singer Xoel López, who has won the Best Spanish Artist award at the MIN Awards on several occasions and was nominated for the 2024 Goya Award for Best Original Song for "Eco".
The space already has more than 250 figures, many of them historical figures such as María Pita, Emilia Pardo Bazán, Picasso and Luis Seoane, among others. Arsenio Iglesias, Rosalía de Castro, Mauro Silva and Sito Sedes are also included.
Stroll along Real street
Real street is one of the busiest streets in the city throughout the year, but at Christmas it takes on a magical touch thanks to its spectacular ceiling of lights.
It is also one of the favourite shopping areas for the inhabitants of A Coruña due to the diversity of its shops and its commitment to local commerce.
Picadillo Tapas Competition
All this activity will make you hungry, so why not take part in the Picadillo Tapas Competition, the oldest in Galicia, which will be held this month from the 18th to the 28th.
For almost two weeks, you can sample traditional and creative tapas at different venues around the city, whose culinary offerings must be based on original creations using Galician products.

Christmas Market
Almost fifty stalls will fill the historic María Pita square until January with gastronomic and craft offerings related to this time of year.
The lights, music, smells and decorations create a welcoming setting that invites you to stroll leisurely and enjoy the festivities in A Coruña.
MOP Foundation
Once again, the Batería battery is hosting an exhibition that is new to the city. It is 'Wonderland', by the iconic photographer Annie Leibovitz, which can be visited at the MOP Foundation's centre in A Coruña until May next year.
The success of 'Wonderland', the artist's first retrospective in Spain, is assured thanks to the audiovisual resources that will show the public the evolution of the artist's codes and her formidable work in the world of fashion.
MERCADO DAS NUBES. Christmas Edition
The San Agustín market, one of the city's most iconic markets along with the one in Plaza de Lugo, will once again be the setting where locals and tourists will gather to celebrate the "Mercado das nubes", an event that brings together local artists, producers, artisans and entrepreneurs in one place.
This time, the most Christmassy version will be held from 19th to 21st December, with musical performances and even tapas.
Ice rink at Calvo Sotelo battery
Few things are as attractive during this period as an ice rink. The Calvo Sotelo battery will have one on its premises until next February.
The entrance to the venue is via Ourense square, and from 20th December to 11th January, it will be possible to skate continuously from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m..
Theatre. "The Nutcracker"
On Saturday 27th, the Opera Palace will host "The Nutcracker", performed by the Tchaikovsky National Ballet. One of the most enchanting Christmas stories ever told will come to the city of Hercules to charm an audience loyal to tradition.
Tickets are still available on Ataquilla to see this ballet, one of Tchaikovsky's best known, with the original choreography by Lev Ivanov.
Concerts at the Coliseum
The Coliseum will once again host major concerts this month, bringing a successful musical year to a close. Among the events scheduled for December are Xoel López, Sen Senra, David Bisbal, Rosario, Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms and Los Secretos, as well as the end of the Folk no Colón cycle, which brings traditional music to the city's iconic theatre.
