This networking event for professionals will be held at PALEXCO until this Saturday
This morning, the PALEXCO venue hosted the opening session of the 30th edition of the Congress of the Galician Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (SOGACOT). This gathering of professionals in the sector returns to the city thanks to the Traumatology Department of the CHUAC, in collaboration with A Coruña City Council.
The Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Gonzalo Castro, attended the opening ceremony, thanking the organisers for choosing a city like A Coruña to host the conference. 'We are a city open to the sea, open to cultural exchange and also open to the exchange of knowledge, at the forefront of scientific research and innovation'. The councillor was accompanied by the president of SOGACOT, Manuel Castro; Alberto A. Jorge Mora, one of the presidents of the organising committee; and Luis Verde Remeseiro, managing director of CHUAC.
The programme kicked off on Thursday with workshops for junior doctors, although on both Friday and Saturday the conference will feature several panel discussions, oral presentations and poster sessions. Among the main topics to be addressed during the conference are complex conditions such as hip and ankle fractures, as well as specific conditions affecting the shoulders and knees, and the importance of sound technical execution in preventing errors. New technologies will also feature at this event, with sessions on the impact of robotic surgery, 3D printing and artificial intelligence applied to the speciality.
2nd Conference with COT Nursing
A key feature of this 30th edition of SOCAGOT is the holding of the 2nd Conference with Orthopaedic and Traumatology Nursing (COT), as effective interaction and communication amongst all staff is essential. Topics of mutual interest will therefore be discussed, with a focus on the comprehensive management of patients at all stages, as well as aspects of management and innovation in COT nursing.
