The networking event took place today at the Kitchen Club in Madrid, with the aim of offering tourists gastronomic experiences based on local, sustainable and km0 products.
A Coruña City Council, through the city's Tourism and Congress Consortium, today took part in the workshop organised by Saborea España, in collaboration with the CEAV (Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies), presenting some of its star chefs with dishes made with local products.
The Kitchen Club in Madrid was the venue for this event, whose main objective was to promote gastronomic tourism in the packages offered by travel agencies, highlighting unique experiences in the participating Spanish destinations.
One of the strong points of this workshop was to present the agencies with an experience that they could sell to their clients in relation to gastronomy. In this sense, on behalf of A Coruña, along with the different gastronomic resources that make the city special, special emphasis was placed on MEGA, Mundo Estrella Galicia, because it is the only museum dedicated to beer in Spain, and also offers the possibility of visiting it on your own or enjoying experiences such as tastings, show cooking or ecotours.
In addition, the public attending the networking session could taste an Atlantic aperitif made in A Coruña, based on a shrimp empanada from La Empanada Viajera, by Pablo Pizarro, and chips from Bonilla a la Vista. All of which can be paired with Estrella Galicia beers.
In addition to A Coruña, other destinations that took part in the meeting included Cambrils, Ciudad Real, Cullera, Dénia, Gran Canaria, La Palma, Lanzarote, León, Talavera de la Reina, Segovia, Valencia, Valladolid and Zaragoza.
Gastronomy, one of A Coruña's main tourist attractions
A Coruña is a culinary reference point in northern Spain, and its Atlantic cuisine is one of the city's main tourist attractions.
This year, Inés Rey's government has developed important gastronomic events with the aim of boosting the local economy and promoting km0 products from a sustainable perspective. The Lacónicas, held as part of A Coruña's traditional carnival; the Bonito de la Lonja de A Coruña Gastronomic Days, held during part of July and August; and the Picadillo Tapas Competition, the oldest in Galicia, which will take place from 22 November to 1 December this year, are some of the gastronomic initiatives that are boosting the city's restaurant and hotel sector.
